Yamaha R7

It is a motorcycle with a starting price of Rs 10 Lakh. It is available in India in 1 variant and 2 colours with high end variant price starting from Rs 10 Lakh. R7 is powered by a 689 ccbs6-2.0 engine which develops a power of 73.4 PS and a torque of 67 Nm. It has Disc front brakes and Disc rear brakes. The weight of Yamaha R7 is 188 kg and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 13 L.

The Yamaha R7 has been spotted at the Madras Motor Race Track (also known as the Madras International Circuit). Yamaha had earlier showcased the R7 at a dealer event in India. Here’s when the bike could be launched here.

The Yamaha R7 is powered by a 689cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 73.4PS at 8750rpm and 67Nm at 6500rpm, which is the same as the MT-07. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox, paired with a slip-and-assist clutch. You can opt for an upshift-only quickshifter as an optional fitment.

Unlike the R6 that used a twin-spar aluminum frame, the Yamaha R7 uses a chassis borrowed from the MT-07. However, the bike gets a completely different suspension and braking setup. The R7 comes with a fully adjustable 41mm KYB USD fork and an adjustable monoshock to handle suspension duties. Braking is taken care of by twin 298mm discs up front and a 245 mm disc at the rear. Unlike the MT-07 that gets axial calipers, the YZF-R7 comes with radial units from Brembo. Yamaha has equipped the bike with dual-channel ABS.

The styling of the Yamaha YZF-R7 has been derived from the YZF-R6, albeit with some changes. From the sculpted fuel tank to the sleek rear end, the motorcycle is inspired by the inline-four track monster. Though the front is largely the same unit from the R6, it gets a wider and bigger windscreen, and a single LED projector in the middle of the air intake vent.

We expect Yamaha to launch the R7 in November 2023 at a price of around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). It’ll rival the Aprilia RS 660, Honda CBR650R and the Kawasaki Ninja 650.
